Operations Specialist/Personal Banker
This is a full-time position
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provides Personal Banker service to all Charter Bank offices as needed. Opens new accounts and processes client account transactions for various offices. Provides prompt, courteous and friendly service with the ability to cross sell bank services in multiple locations. Exercises independent judgment. Completes various special projects for Central Operations as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travels to various Charter Bank locations to help cover the Branch for employees who are out sick or on vacation.
- Completes various special projects and duties for Central Operations as assigned.
- Provide backup and support for the following areas:
• Internet Banking, including Checkfree Bill Pay • Wires (processing timely and according to procedures) • Debit Cards • Accounts Payable • Daily Journal Entries • CSI Repo Sweep • Goldleaf ACH • Branch Support • Brinks/Fed Cash order balancing • Dormant accounts
- Provides efficient and courteous client service, cross-marketing products and services to help generate new business when appropriate. Able to become familiar with clients at all locations.
- Maintain superior level of customer service internally and externally.
- Maintain and adhere to all Bank policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines.
- Sells and opens Checking, Savings, and Time Certificate of Deposit. Prepares and maintains account paperwork, including signature cards and check orders. Provides a variety of knowledge to accurately complete client and officer requests to ensure accounts are set up in their entirety including follow up with client and officer or the Office Manager.
- Uses good judgment and knowledge of bank clientele to assess client requests and be able to back up decisions with account support documentation.
- Responsible for comprehensive, prompt, efficient, and accurate client transactions. Relates complete accurate account information to customers in an efficient and professional manner at all times.
- May be responsible for security of alarms for vault and night drop for opening and closing procedures ensuring that all opening items are complete before the branch is opened and all closing items are complete before leaving the branch at closing.
- Responsible for and ensuring that morning duties have been completed including night drop.
- Responsible for daily balancing and maintaining branch cash limits.
- Processes a variety of routine checking and savings deposits and withdrawals using good judgment and knowledge of account and system information seeking office manager advice when necessary.
- Selling of monetary instruments including Traveler’s Checks and cashier’s checks using the procedures of collecting and verifying identification and account information for guaranteed funds.
- Completion of a variety of specific operational duties for opening and closing procedures, credit card advances, tax payments, balancing of daily duties.
- Greet all customers by name with a friendly “can do” attitude. Wait on clients, answer telephones and perform other duties as necessary in a timely manner being efficient and professional at all times.
- Admit clients to the safe deposit box area ensuring that all steps and procedures are taken as set forth by bank policy and procedures to help maintain records.
- Ensures that branch is in compliance at all times with handling of cash and other regulatory and compliance items.
- Maintains proper security measures to ensure safety of employees and property.
- Overtime as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: (skills, education and experience necessary to perform job)
- Two or more year’s recent and up to date experience as a personal banker to include teller cash handling experience with excellent cash balancing history. New account opening procedures but not a requirement.
- High attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Typing, 10-key and PC knowledge.
- Knowledge of current bank compliance and security issues.
- Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision. Takes direction well from supervisor.
- Excellent communication skills/team player.
- Must be able to drive to and from the various Branch locations.
- Must have a driver’s license in good standing.
- Excellent cash handling and cash balancing record with proper security of cash and bank property.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: (identifies physical surroundings) Work is performed in a well-lit, air-conditioned business office with a moderate noise level. Must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time, answer telephones, and enter data into computer. Other duties as described above may require walking, stooping, crouching, and reaching activities. Must be able to lift and move supply and storage boxes.
